An increasing number of U.S. high school graduates enter college while still in the process of learning English. They are referred to as Generation 1.5 students because they share characteristics of both first and second generation immigrants. Dr. Harklau will present her study of Generation 1.5 addressing the major issues for these students in regard to high school preparation for college, college access and enrollment and the status of minority languages and bilingualism on college campuses.
