Rebecca LeBeau, Child Assault Prevention (CAP) was caught in the act of improving our community’s Quality of Life through her work helping young children deal with abusive adults.
Rebecca focuses on keeping young children ‘safe, strong, and free’ through her free trainings to 2nd and 4th graders on how to deal with bullies, strangers and trusted adults. Each year the program is presented to about 10,000 elementary students in Washoe County classrooms. The interactive abuse prevention workshops teach children skills to use to protect themselves from the abusive situations they may encounter with others, including family members, as well as how to ask a trusted adult for help.
Through her work with both these programs, Rebecca has positively impacted our Public Wellbeing and the Secure Families Indicator.
