Individuals and organizations honored for improving quality of life
(RENO, Nev.) – Truckee Meadows Tomorrow (TMT) has announced the winners of the 2007 Silver Star Awards. The individuals and organizations receiving awards have measurably improved the quality of life in the Truckee Meadows by positively impacting one or more of the community’s 33 Quality of Life Indicators. Award recipients will be honored at Accentuate the Positive (ATP), a biennial, community-wide celebration scheduled for October 5, 2007 at John Ascuaga’s Nugget.
“It is inspiring to see the variety of efforts put forth in so many key areas to improve our quality of life and our experience in the Truckee Meadows,” said Karen Ross, co-chair of Accentuate the Positive, “We look forward to honoring these individuals and organizations at Accentuate the Positive for the important work that they are doing.”
The Silver Star award recipients were selected from a pool of more than 150 nominations. The record number of nominations were submitted on-line by businesses and community members between February 25th and April 30th . The review committee, made up of active community members and leaders, had the difficult job of reviewing each nomination with the intention of identifying one Silver Star for each of the 33 Quality of Life Indicators.
“The record number of nominations that were submitted this year exemplifies the remarkable work that is taking place in our community,” said Elaine Lancaster, co-chair of Accentuate the Positive. “Every individual and organization that was nominated during this process is doing their part to make our community an even more wonderful place to live.”
