Truckee Meadows Tomorrow (TMT), the recognized voice for quality of life in the region, recently opened a month-long survey on its Web site, http://www.truckeemeadowstomorrow.org, designed with specific questions that will help the organization collect data regarding quality of life issues in the area.
“We urge the community to visit the Web site, take the survey and let their voices be heard in the quality of life conversation,” TMT Board President, Zanny Marsh, said.
The Web survey asks specific questions for each of the 33 Quality of Life Indicators, data measures that highlight the area’s conditions, trends, opportunities for improvement, public policy, program impacts and progress toward desired results. Data from the most recent survey will be analyzed and presented in TMT’s bi-annual Community Wellbeing Report, published in February by Northern Nevada Business Weekly.
“We want to hear from all cross-sections of the community so that the report can be as far-reaching and comprehensive as possible,” Marsh said.
TMT’s Quality of Life Task Force Steering Committee, a committee of nine Board and community volunteers, collected extensive information through various mediums, including the United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra environmental scan, TMT members, TMT’s CEO forum sponsored by Renown Health/Washoe Medical Center, community forums hosted by Wells Fargo, community surveys and EDAWN’s Target 2010 strategic planning process.
The several hundred Quality of Life Indicators suggested by the community were then filtered against the following criteria for good indicators: meaningful, relevant, actionable, room for improvement and measurable. After reviewing all the responses and comments from various focus groups, forums and surveys, the 33 indicators (attached) were unveiled in early 2007.
“Our Quality of Life Task Force invested 18 months to discuss and record the perspectives of individuals in our community. The results are the community’s Quality of Life Indicators, for which TMT is both the advocate and the steward. By participating in the online survey this month, the community can help us determine how we are doing in these important areas.”
