Accentuate the Positive was held at the Reno Hilton, October 14, 2005. This celebration has become our community’s hallmark of quality of life.  Over 50 individuals and organizations that make our community a better place were honored with silver, platinum and sustaining star awards.  These stars covering a wide range of programs and activities included public entities, educational institutions, nonprofits, businesses and individuals.  One thing they have in common – they’ve all demonstrated a positive contribution to the quality of life in the Truckee Meadows.

The keynote speaker at the celebration was Dr. Jennifer James, a cultural anthropologist, lecturer, writer and commentator, well known to audiences around the world for her innovative ideas.  She is the author of several books and has filmed two PBC specials.  View highlights of her presentation on the dynamics of change and the importance of quality of life indicators for a community’s well being.
