FEATURE: November 2nd General Election

Were you frustrated about the small voter turnout for the September 7th primary election?  Are you confused about the Washoe County advisory questions which will appear on the November 2, 2004 General Election ballot?  Be an informed voter and come to the next Truckee Meadows Tomorrow (TMT) general membership meeting, set for Tuesday, October 26, 2004 beginning promptly at 7:30 AM at Washoe Medical Center.

The meeting will feature Nancy Cummings, Director, Washoe County Library System, and Daniel Burk, Registrar of Voters as they discuss TMT’s newest community compact designed to measurably improve voter turnout (one of the economic vitality quality of life indicators).  The New Voters Project and the Nevada Museum of Art are also partnering in this compact designed to improve the percentage of overall voter participation.  Partners are working together to provide training, volunteers and suitable sites to register new voters, distribute voter information and schedules in both English and Spanish, and provide polling stations, including early voting. 

Representatives from Washoe County District Health, Parks and Recreation, Public Works and other organizations will also be available to answer concerns about the ballot advisory questions regarding the tax resolution for vector born disease, and the proposed sales tax increase for quality of life projects.  Be informed about the issues and contribute to our quality of life by voting.

The meeting will be held in the Remedees meeting rooms at Washoe Professional Center, just behind Remedees restaurant.  A complimentary continental breakfast will be served, no reservations are needed and convenient free parking is available in the parking garage off Second St.  Guests, as well as members, are invited to attend.
