Truckee Meadows Tomorrow’s September 9 General Membership Meeting Will Feature EDAWN

What’s the most important concern expressed by businesses and entrepreneurs thinking about relocating to this area? Find out when officials from the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) present at the next Truckee Meadows Tomorrow (TMT) general membership meeting, set for Tuesday, September 9, beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Washoe Medical Center.
The meeting will feature Chuck Alvey, EDAWN chief executive officer and president and Gail Conkey, director of business services. EDAWN is a private/public partnership committed to recruiting and expanding quality companies that have a positive economic impact on the quality of life in Western Nevada, since 1983.
Alvey is responsible for EDAWN’s new direction and partnerships to strengthen and stabilize the economic base of our community insuring economic prosperity. EDAWN uses the region’s quality of life as a recruitment tool in attracting businesses to relocate to the area.
Conkey is EDAWN’s new director of business services, focusing on business expansion and retention services. EDAWN staff and over 90 certified volunteers have a mission to contact and interview a large number of companies throughout the year to better understand and proactively respond to local business concerns. The data will be incorporated into EDAWN’s Business Builder software to assist local companies with their growth and expansion needs, as well as report business trends to the community-at-large.
Quality of life indicators on the wages, affordable housing, water use, skilled workforce, and others are a large part of the foundation for a thriving community. The meeting should be of importance to anyone interested in a frank discussion of quality of life issues and sustainable economic development in the area.
The meeting will be held in the Remedees meeting rooms at Washoe Professional Center, just behind Remedees restaurant. A complimentary continental breakfast will be served, no reservations are needed and convenient free parking is available in the parking garage off Second St. Guests, as well as members, are invited to attend.
