January 27 Annual Membership Meeting
Will Feature Planned Parenthood Mar Monte
New Directors and Officers Will Be Elected
How serious is teen pregnancy in the Truckee Meadows region? What do teen pregnancy, literacy, and economic vitality have in common? Come find out at the next Truckee Meadows Tomorrow (TMT) annual membership meeting, set for Tuesday, January 27, 2004 beginning promptly at 7:30 AM at Washoe Medical Center.
The meeting will feature Dana Roblin, Area Services Director and Roz Parry, Director of Development for Planned Parenthood Mar Monte (PPMM). Learn more about PPMM’s Raise-a-Reader program addressing literacy and encouraging moms to read to their babies. The meeting should be of importance to anyone interested in a frank discussion of quality of life issues for healthy families.
A number of TMT quality of life indicators are directly or indirectly affected by PPMM’s work. These include: teen pregnancy, at-risk behaviors and substance abuse; health education, prenatal care and health care costs; high school drop-out and college attrition, parental involvement in schools, and life long learning; child abuse and domestic violence; children and families in poverty, and public assistance usage.
The election of new board members and TMT officers for the year is also scheduled for the annual meeting, along with a review of 2003 TMT activities, as well as plans for 2004.
The meeting will be held in the Remedees meeting rooms at Washoe Professional Center, just behind Remedees restaurant. A complimentary continental breakfast will be served, no reservations are needed and convenient free parking is available in the parking garage off Second St. Guests, as well as members, are invited to attend.
