Updated 3/5/16

Several incidents recently have received a great deal of media attention. Schools should be safe havens where the focus can be on education. Monitoring violence ensures that schools remain safe learning environments. There is a great deal of community concern that serious situations have become more common in recent years. Rates per 1,000 enrollment dropped for violence against students but increased in 2014-15, along with violence to staff, and possession/use of alcohol.

Notes:

  • WCSD enrollments used in the rate calculations do not include charter schools
  • Habitual truancy incidents do not include suspensions or expulsions
